Join the HJF Team! The Suicide Care, Prevention, and Research Initiative (Suicide CPR Initiative) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology in Bethesda, Maryland is accepting applications for a full-time Research Psychologist . The Research Psychologist will serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team of investigators, clinicians, and graduate students, to examine topics pertaining to suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention as well as military mental health. A background in Clinical Psychology is highly preferred. Responsibilities: Provides guidance on design and methodology of planned studies. Assists with the design of psychological instruments and/or surveys; helps establish the psychometrics of these instruments. Performs appropriate statistical procedures and analyses in accordance with program priorities and timelines. Supports the implementation of multiple studies on suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention; provides expertise on clinical psychology-related topics Assists with the preparation of scientific reports for scholarly dissemination at professional meetings and in peer-reviewed publications. Constructs tables and figures to present the scientific findings associated with performed studies. Assists with grant application preparations, sample size and power calculations, and randomization/stratification procedures for clinical trials. Provides supervisory support for junior members of the lab. Assists with data analytic plans for student-related theses and dissertation studies. Provides periodic trainings on various data analysis and statistical topics and serves as a consultant for members of the lab including doctoral students in Clinical Psychology. Assists with the preparation of regulatory board documents and technical reports to be submitted to study sponsors. Problem solves research-related issues. Participates in program-sponsored educational opportunities to advance knowledge in the areas of psychotherapy outcome research, military suicide prevention, and randomized clinical trials methodology. Develops and maintains professional relationships with investigators within the public and private sectors; learns about potential funding opportunities, and works collaboratively within our team to advance future grant submissions. Travels to various sites, as needed, to collect data and/or to meet with study collaborators. Performs other program-related duties, as assigned. Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Applicants must have a doctorate in Psychology (Experimental, Clinical, Counseling, or Social), Social Work, or related field. Evidence of a strong research background as reflected by scholarly presentations and/or publications, a postdoctoral fellowship, as well as other work experience is highly desired. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of research design and methodology; skills in data analysis and interpretation; some experience in clinical or translational research. Minimum Experience: 0-2 years of postdoctoral research experience Travel: Will require some travel to off-site locations Required Licenses, Certification or Registration : Clinical care duties may be assigned to those candidates who hold a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Social Work.
