The Psychiatrist in Adult Services is responsible for psychiatric assessment and treatment to adults. The Psychiatrist participates as a team member with the nursing and non-medical clinical staff to assure treatment consistency and excellent team communication. The Psychiatrist acts as a clinical resource for BRBH staff. The Psychiatrist also supervises psychiatry residents and fellows. Additional Responsibilities include: obtaining health/mental health history performing examinations determining the care plan conducting specialized screenings as needed ordering and interpreting lab work and/or specialized diagnostic procedures prescribing medications and calculating drug dosages maintaining and updating electronic medical record. Minimum Requirements : License: Active, unrestricted license as a Physician in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Education : Completion of an accredited medical college curriculum that fulfills academic and residency requirements for licensure as a physician. Criminal Background Check: Candidates are required to undergo a fingerprint background check. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : 1. Clinical proficiency and the ability to establish therapeutic relationships with those with severe and persistent mental illness, co-occurring substance disorders, and related disabilities. 2.
