Overview Fairview Health Services is looking for Senior Intake Finance Counselor for our Maple Grove location. This position is approved for 80 hours every two weeks and is benefit eligible. This position requires remote work. In addition to adhering to all Fairview policies, guidelines, procedures, the Fairview Commitments, and the Code of Conduct, it is the expectation the following requirements of the remote work policy will be met, including but not limited to: * Remote workspace that is clean, safe, and professional. * Maintains an internet connection consistent with Fairview standards at remote workspace. * Remain productive and responsive during their scheduled work hours. * Attend primary Fairview location, as needed. Responsibilities/Job Description The Senior Financial Counselor's role in the admission financial process is to financially secure exception patients by managing the community care process, assisting patients in applying for government insurance products, making individual contractual arrangements won non-contracted out of state MA providers, setting up payment arrangements with patients and gathering all necessary information to facilitate the charity care escalation process. They coordinate all financial issues with the patient, the insurer, the physician, and other stakeholders as a member of the financial counselor team. They are also responsible for responding to and investigating patient and family members' concerns and complaints and resolves potential and actual claims. Perform insurance verification and analysis * Determine eligibility status. * Obtain benefit information. * Verify group/contract numbers and subscriber information. Obtain certification and/or authorization * Verify specific plan * Provide necessary information to health plan to obtain certification and / or authorization Identify potential coverage issues * Specific Fairview program * Employee program * Admitting Physician * Referring Physician * Insurance Company * Employer Research to find other programs for payment * Negotiate with third party payers to provide coverage * Submitting medical data * Citing precedents set by other payers * Providing cost benefit information Maintain current knowledge of payer requirements * General admitting practices * On-line verifications applications * Initial and ongoing training Manage and maintain community care and charity care programs. * Work closely with physician partners to facilitate the resolution of financial exception patients. * Facilitate Community Care program for eligible patients by obtaining relevant financial information Assist self-pay patients or patients with limited coverage in applying for government sponsored programs like Medicare, MA. And GAMC. * Provide assistance to unscheduled patients needing medical care and financial assistance. * Assists self pay patients or patients with limited coverage in applying for government sponsored programs Qualifications Required: * Vocational/Technical Training or Associate Degree * Three to Five Years Preferred * Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
