MFTi (Marriage Family Therapist Intern)
Oakland, CA, United States
Since childhood I have always wanted to help uplift others in need. As an adult, I have become passionate about breaking the stigma of mental health services. I believe that it is all too often we can neglect this critical part of ourselves, equating emotional expression to a sign of weakness, causing many to resort to self-destructive behaviors instead of seeking support. Growing up in Oakland, I have a deep appreciation for diversity, holisitic healing and social justice. I aim to bring access to and an awareness of the importance emotional and psychosocial wellbeing to marginalized populations. As a result of my own adolescent struggles, I have developed a genuine interest in working with youth, hoping to empower them to become well-adjusted, self-advocating citizens. Because of this I decided to get my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development with an emphasis in adolescence. I n June, I went on to receive my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University East Bay. With my training and innate interpersonal skills, I am eager to give back to my community.

Norwich, CT, United States
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been practicing for the past 7 years, working with children, families and adults. I have spent time working with families in local parenting programs as well as with children and their caregivers navigating school and home based difficulties. In recent years, my focus has shifted to working with an adult population which has proven to be a very rewarding experience. Depending on location and availability, I am able to offer in-home sessions with new mothers who have HUSKY insurance.
I participated in a yearlong collaborative while working at Child and Family Agency. The focus of this experience was to learn and implement Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also completed a yearlong Trauma Certificate with the Justice Resource Institute. I am certified as a Mind Over Mood therapist assisting new mothers in the transition to motherhood and the treatment of mood related symptoms.
I have worked on the Mashantucket Reservation as a Clinician and then as the Clinical Coordinator. Prior to this I worked in a Child Guidance Clinic and spent time in a school based health center guiding middle school students through age-appropriate transitions and immersion in a dual language curriculum. I currently work in Private Practice and at a private practice type of clinic.

To Whom It May Concern:
I received my BA in Psychology, with a minor in Education, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in May 2015. I recently graduated with my Masters in Social Work from the University at Albany. Between Psychology and Social Work, I have gained immeasurable human relation skills. These degrees, as well as the various positions I have held in the past, including Summer Camp Administration, Reception at a Youth and Family Counseling Agency, my job as a Residential Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and my position in Campus Recreation at SUNY Albany, have granted me extensive communication skills, particularly the ability to listen and interact with others.
During my graduate program at SUNY Albany, I had the opportunity to work as a Foster Care Service Clinical Intern, as well as a Middle School, School Social Work Intern. Both of these positions granted me the opportunity to learn and develop clinical skills particularly with children and adolescents, as well as their families, and other professionals. I have participated in intake assessments, coached family visitations, IEP planning, clinical evaluations and more, all while collaborating with different teams of highly competent and knowledgeable professionals in various fields. I have also had the opportunity to receive useful trainings, including but not limited to, TCIS (therapeutic crisis intervention training), MAPP and more. These two internships, along with my previous work experiences have allowed me to develop extensive knowledge and understanding for working with children and adolescents as well as working with their parent’s/family members and other service workers.
I am extremely adaptable to new situations, and a quick learner. I pride myself on being an extremely hard worker and always following through on my tasks: I do not accept anything but my best work possible. I think these traits, along with my extreme patience and welcoming personality, help me to be successful in any position I hold. As a clinician, I take a very Cognitive Behavioral approach, and do my best to collaborate with and work with the client, rather than work for.
I have obtained my License for Master in Social Work: I can provide that information if requested. I have also the ability to obtain my school social work certification. My resume goes into greater detail on the various positions I have held, and my roles in these jobs, as well as the various trainings I have gone through. I am happy to answer any questions, and provide any references desired!
Thank you for your time!
